The largest island of Greece, Crete is famous for being the birthplace of Zeus, the god of all gods, in Greek Mythology. With its varied terrain it is a travelers nirvana. Enjoy this week’s installment of inspiration Friday.
Crete, Greece’s Mythological City
Home to breathtaking scenery like the white sand beaches of Elafonisi, Mt. Ida Crete’s tallest range and home to the Ideon Cave, and the Palace of Knossos a ruin found in the capitol city Heraklion, this beautiful Greek island holds innumerable adventures for guests to the Mediterranean.
As a travel blogger, I am always looking for interesting places to visit and explore. Crete has always been on my travel bucket list and is a favorite for many travel enthusiasts.
Thousands of visitors flock to Crete’s 621 mile (1,000km) shores each year to experience her many activities. The powdery white sand beaches and turquoise Mediterranean Sea are perfect for sun worshipers and water sports enthusiasts. For those who like Greek Mythology, Crete, Greece’s Mythological city holds wonders beyond belief. It also holds important facts about archaeology that is important to our current society.
For those who love Greek mythology, like I do, Crete is a must visit. With caves, ruins, and the preservation of historical sites visitor’s to the island can get lost in the time of Troy (one of my favorite movies!)
There are some fantastic places to stay in Crete from budget hotels that make you feel like a local to luxurious resorts where pampering you like a Greek god comes is included in your stay.
