Osmena Peak

Luzon, Cebu is home to Sto. Nino Basillica and the Lapu-Lapu Shrine and, although beautiful and worth the visit, neither compare to the rarely visited Osmena peak at Dalaguete, Cebu. Osmena peak is the highest point in Cebu and the scenic mountain range is found in the southern region.

Snorkeling/Scuba

The Philippines is known as one of the most picturesque places in the world for scuba and snorkeling. Its waters are teaming with gorgeous corals and tropical fishes with the biggest one calling it home. The adventurous can share time with friendly whale sharks swimming just meters along the shores of Oslob, an eco friendly municipality in the Southeast region of the Sumilon Island. One of the best tour guides for this adventure is Oslob Whale Shark Watching.

Historical Sites

Not only known for its breathtaking white sand beaches and wonderful food, Cebu also has amazing historical sites.

Heritage of Cebu Monument

Heritage of Cebu Monument

Parian District, Cebu City

One of my favorites is the Parian District, Cebu City. Located on the original Plaza of Parian, the heritage of Cebu Monument is a significant and symbolic showcase for the history of Cebu. The sculptures are the work of national artist Eduardo Castrillo. It was constructed in July 1997 and launched in December 8, 2000.

Magallanes Street, Cebu City

Ferdinand Magellan erected a cross, the main focal point of this historical spot, on April 21, 1521. The spot is significant to the Philippine people for Father Pedro Valderama baptized the first Christian Filipinos, Rajah Humabon and Queen Juana and 400 followers. Believing it had miraculous power, the natives took pieces of it in the hopes of being blessed. To prevent this a kiosk was erected to protect the cross from complete destruction.

Cnt-lechon

Where to Eat

No visit to Cebu is complete without trying the food its most famous for…Lechon. No place does it better than Rico’s Lechon. Frequented by the former president Erap Estrada, their version of bbq pork is succulent and a must try.

The-Tinderbox

If sipping wine and experimenting with cheeses is your preference then The Tinder Box is a perfect choice. Its classy décor and sophisticated menu is the place to go for the finer things in life. It’s located in the Crossroads Mall, Gov. Mariano Cuenco Ave., Banilad, Cebu City, Cebu

Beaches

Although 2 to 3 hours from Cebu City depending on traffic, Tingko beach, located in the municipality of Alcoy, is worth the trip. The soft sand and low crowds make for a wonderful day trip. Local restaurants and shopping are conveniently accessible; the friendly people are a bonus.

Sugar Beach

Snorkeling, biking, island hopping, and eating sea food are just some of the great activities found on Sugar Beach. Located in Santa Fe, municipality of Bantayan Island, Cebu it’s accessible by ferry and is perfect for family adventure. There is a small resort on the island for those interested in spending a few days in paradise.
